Built-in POI (Point of Interface)

2 Major Advantages
Easy to install
- Power & Impedance matching
between RRU & DAS
Environment-friendly function
- High power Energy Harvesting
Harvesting use case example
20W RF input per each port
14 ports in total
40% of conversion efficiency
112W of DC power
GaN-based component for high power
harvesting operation
The master unit (MU) of a DAS must be installed in proximity to a base station
and must be designed in a way that optimizes the space of the base station when
the DAS is installed. The number of RF ports between base stations and DASs depends
on the number of carriers and frequency bands available and the MIMO structure.
In this situation, the number of ports that support 5G increases significantly. Built-in
POI DAS products substantially improve the spatial efficiency of base stations owing
to the adaptation of a built-in POI. This adaptation also helps dramatically reduce
OPEX because of the use of an MBMU, which enables the MU to convert an RF signal
into DC voltage owing to energy harvesting technology. High-power RF signals are
used as an extra DC power source for a DAS.
